I'm on 7.5.9

My website outside the forum is .html based.

I have been thinking of building external islands the outside the forum but the info text reads
Quote
This page will show you what you'll need to put into a page outside of UBB.threads to use this Content Island inside of it. The page will need to be PHP enabled.
so question can I PHP enable a .html page to take PHP code?

You really should have your .html files be .php files when you need to use PHP (myself I only use the .html extension for files built outside of the php files); but you can adjust your .htaccess to indicate that .html files contain PHP code as:
Code
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html

Hey Gizmo.

I added your line to .htaccess and nothing happened. then removed it
I also created an .php page as test

this is the page I wish to alter, it looks strange as its normally in a frame
http://www.britbike.com/main.html
see the 728x90 banners that are called for and hwo they vanish when using .php see below
on the other hand I can see the lates posts in the .php
http://www.britbike.com/main.php

its just test but is it possible to use a .cgi script call in a .php page? to call for banners
not sure you get what I mean.

It's entirely possible that your webhost (or the webserver itself if you're on a VPS or Dedicated Server) doesn't allow that value to be adjusted via .htaccess.

As for why some code isn't displaying the same on the two pages, this is really outside of the scope of forum support, but the sources don't display your "click here" bit on the php page, thus the coding is different.
