Talking of wind it is 20 years ago today of the great storm of 87 - I remember it well.

I was finishing my evening shift late at around 3am and we worked in a sound-proof computer building my colleague uttered the words as we were leaving 'I thought I could hear rain - yep must have been raining' Our carpark looked fine and then I drove home.

No one was around and it was really quite ere - drove home often on the wrong side of roads and was not going to stop for anything - I ignored every red light etc., and just did not stop. I was 21 then and just wanted to get home - I don't think I saw a sole the whole way....

Got a call at 7am saying the morning chap couldn't get in - could I come back - I soon told them what they could do LOL

(for the benefit of anyone else it was a hurricane with 100+ miles an hour winds that hit around 2-3am and claimed 17 lives and an awful lot of damage. Good old Michael Fish said on the forecast the previous evening 'someone has called the BBC to say that there is a hurricane on it's way - don't worry there isn't!' )
