I assume you talk about topics like this one:

Go through the censor list and make sure that there are ONLY alphanumeric characters and curly braces ( { and } ). Any other characters can cause the censor to do weird things to posts. Also, make sure there is one and ONLY one space between each entry. The old code is very picky.
A fix was placed in 6.1 that prevented troublesome characters from being entered. The latest beta release, 6.6, allows the characters and handles them safely. I suggest upgrading. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
