Is there anything in that private-gibberish directory other than the upgrade.txt/last*.file/ files?
Delete anything that isn't a topic file and rebuild again.
If it still throws the error, please open a
support ticket - I want to look at the board. We haven't been able to catch one of these problems in the wild before.
