The UBB isn't optimized to run with a SSL connection. Although the UBB can run with a SSL connection, users will experience slow load times on advanced functions such as searching or posting. Sometimes lag is due to the SSL preventing files from being accessed directly, if you have you UBB protected under the SSL and the image files outside the SSL, load times will increase.
