Okay since your board is not "hacked" I would suggest downloading the latest FULL version of the ubb 6.05, and updating your site. There have been several changes/fixes since 6.04e. Do NOT upload any files beginning with vars_ , they will overwrite your settings.
This should take care of your problems.
