My board has been working fine for a long time and then all of a sudden it has been unable to send mail out... it spits out the following message whenever sending mail is involved:

"An error has occurred:

Unable to connect to the SMTP server. The following error was returned: Unknown error

The server either does not exist, or rejected the connection.

Please ensure that the UBB is allowed to relay mail through the server.

Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you!"

I double checked the email settings in the control panel and it looked OK with the SMTP server set to "localhost" which has always worked. I contacted my ISP and they said the SMTP server path should be mail.mustanggt.org which I also tried and also didn't work.

I'm trying to get my ISP to help me but they're balking saying this appears to be a "programming problem" which they can't help with (makes no sense to me)?? I'm thinking something is wrong on their end, but I can't seem to get them to look any further into it.

Can somebody tell me which direction to point them in?

BTW, this is hosted on a Windows server.

Thanks!
