As someone who spent 24 years in the military, I can tell you that lots of military folks surf the net. I usually did so on my lunch breaks. My son often flys missions in the middle east (he's an AF pilot), and they have internet set up for the troops to use in their free time (with some restrictions of course). It is a means of R&R since the guys and gals are usually very restricted in what they can do and where they can go.
