Well, here's an actual "how things operate" question.
On our test run of the board in prep for the big cutover this evening, we've been getting "blank" content reports from our internal staff during testing.
I've isolated it down to permissions issues on the templates\compile directory. Because our entire site is protected with NTLM auth, our permissions are a little more prone to "opportunities".
This directory has the correct inherited permissions and is set to propagate them to the child objects. This works fine for most users. But, it seems that for some users (and I'm guessing it's the one or two of us with elevated domain priveleges), the files are being created without permissions for the appropriate access groups. This in turn causes little spots of blank content for the users (watch list screens, pm edit screen, etc... it varys widely.)
I'm trying to figure out how to remedy this, but don't understand the whole workings. When I change permissions correctly, the blank content issues are resolved. But I don't know if/when these files will be removed/recreated, etc. Will they eventually be recreated for all templates? Also, what process is creating them? Perhaps it isn't in an appropriate group so it's ignoring the inherited permissions and building from scratch.
Thanks,
Tim
