well, that sounds like the malformed characters issue, just load up phpmyadmin and delete the last couple of posts, it's likely one of them... You can just delete those that have something that doesn't look like:
a latin character: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
or is a number: 0123456789
or is a standard punctuation: !@#$%^&*()_-+=\|[{]}:;"'<,>.?/
BTW, as I can't SEE (as it doesn't seem to be enabled on your right sidebar) your shoutbox I couldn't tell you if it was an issue before; the "sending..." happens when the ajax hangs when sending and is common to some users
