The area is likely alt-2; your best bet would be to add to the class="" area and make your own class for that cell (As just changing alt2 will change much more than just that one area); as I don't know anywhere which uses ratings and the gallery in conjunction I can't tell you exactly what the current class is, but if it's alt2 it'd look like:
class="alt2 gstars"
then you'd edit the css and add an "extra" css as:
.gstars { background: #000000; }
And then the stars area will show with that color background.
