Aparently there is a conflict between php4 and mysql.

Or at least I think I did. It's not a MySQL problem at all. It's a PHP
problem. There is an incompatibility between PHP and the new MySQL. The
good news is that I think we can fix it. The bad news is that it isn't a
trivially easy fix, and will take a while.

They're going to try recompiling php see if that won't take care of the problem, but I thought you might want to check into it a bit as it affects w3t - php.
