I'm running 7.2.2 on a shared Unix server.

Recently the hosting company transfered everyone to a new set of servers at a new site.

During the transition I checked in now and then and updated the UBB Shutdown notice on status. Because I hit submit on the primary settings page when things were not stable at the hosting company.

I think during one phase of the transition I lost most of the Primary settings (all blank and unchecked).

One thing I thought odd after all was done was I could not logout of the UBB forum (I usually just stay logged in). I was going to try deleting cookies and dig into that later.

One user contacted me and said he could not post in one forum. I'm not sure if he could in others. All I could think of was "cookies".

So I noticed the cookie path was blank and the default is supposed to /. So I set it to /. Sent the user email and said try again (and to delete your cookie if you still have problems). I have not heard back from this user yet. No other user complaints.

Then I decided to see if that would fix my logout problem. Bingo. I could now logout !!.

BIG PROBLEM, now I couldn't LOGIN !!

I tried deleting my cookies and I can't login.

It will login but as soon as I click a link in the forum I'm logged out.

Luckily another computer I have can still use the login cookie and I took the slash back out for now. But still can't login.

So / or no slash cleared cookies and can't maintain a login.

Thank goodness I can still access the site with my other computer that still has a the original login cookie.

What is wierd is I tried yet a 3rd computer that I have never logged in (with the slash out) and I was able to maintain a login.

What is going on !!

I should also mention I had to disable the referer check option and I can't recall if I had to have that disabled before.

Thanks for any help.

All my clients are Vista SP1 IE7 and XP IE7.
