I am having this problem as well (5.4.3). I get the ...success... not an array... warnings and the [censored]s plastered into the messages.
Changing $config[phpurl] to $config[path] doesn't help. Then I just get permission denied errors.
Any thoughts? The demo worked fine (after finding some bugfixes on these boards). But the fixes for this problem don't seem to work for me.
