At least the way it now stands, we can at least identify the new posts in threaded mode. The fact that the system doesn't go to the first unread in threaded is much less an issue in threaded than it is in flat mode, primarily because the threaded reply list is much shorter and easier to see the newly posted replies. The current state is okay, if that's the best we can do.
