well that is why I suggested the bobbit mod. Perl in your case is just cgi files which is what you are using now. And it does not require editing any classic files.
I am not sure what up loader you finally selected.
But if you want to pursue either one. Then I would suggest to post your questions at UBBDEV as a reply on the the mod in question.
Since this site really does not support modifications. Much less classic anymore.
And then people will know which mod you are talking about. And what version you are using.
