by golly I think I got it!
I can connect wirelessly and browse my network.

I just relocated the wireless router downstairs to the new port I installed over the weekend, and everything is working

I can now connect wirelessly anywhere in the house, I have extra ports downstairs for the bluray player, and whatever else I may install, like the new netgear EVA2000
