The Full URL should be: http://demongov.com/avatars

For the Avatar Upload Storage Directory, you'll need the proper path. To find out what that is, go to your DB, Paths & URLs section of the Control Panel and then click on the Paths & URLs Tab. Look at the Absolute PATH to Main Directory Setting.

Whatever that is set to, just change the ubbthreads at then end to avatars. So if it says:

/path/to/your/site/ubbthreads

Then your Avatar Upload Storage Directory is going to be:

/path/to/your/site/avatars

The paths are correct

It's not working

I have no idea what the problem is
