Yes that is the way I take it. I guess in v6 that was the case. When he upgraded to 7.x the little M appears in all posts. Even where the member is not a moderator.
So I don't have a answer since that is the way it works now.
And I don't think it is a easy mod due to the multiple group/icons allowed now.
