I've tried to register an account on your site to test, but still waiting for the verification email.
Do you recall if it was working previously with IE8? Just to eliminate any possible issues, I'd start with checking the permissions on your sessions folder and make sure that's fully writable. Once I can login I'll take a look at the cookies.
