I found an interesting mod on this vBulletin 3 forum:

Now, I have been trying to convince City-Data.com to move to UBB.threads soon, mentioning the price hikes of vBulletin 4 and why UBB.threads is a better deal. While I am pretty sure this probably won't be added for UBB.threads 8.0, perhaps it should be considered for UBB.threads 8.1.
Does anyone have an opinion on this?
