Well first thing is you need a master email address entered in:
Control Panel » Primary Settings
Board Email Address:
This the address the email is sent from.
Then you need to probably add that email address in your domain control panel so it will be a legit email address coming from your server.
Then if you need a smtp server entry then you need to verify with the host what it is.
