I can't speak for the first part of your issue.
But on the ps. It possibly could be the user edited the message and added it after the email was sent.
As far as the first issue. What is a blank?
No subject, No email from address or no generic text from the language file or any part thereof?
Such as a very long message that was truncated?
An example may help!
