The time setting is hard coded for validation.
I looked it up a few years ago.
I don't recall the timeframe But I recall there has to be an additional registration attempt after the timeframe has passed to delete the registrant if they have not validated.
I recall it was short though like 24 -48 hours.
Of course that is from memory.
