On the first image. When click on the test directory and get an ok.
It should write a test file to that folder.
It used to check for that file every time a member uploads one.
Also the path does not look good. It appears to be a relative path and should be absolute
../avatar
should have something like the hint on the left of that screen.
/home/public_html/avatar
Check your main path settings at the top of the control panel:
Absolute PATH to Main Directory That will give you another hint
Other wise it is trying to find avatar above the root of the site outside of public access.
