Just moved to new host and when selecting a attachment to view the image is blank.
If I right click and open image in new tab I get a 404 error.
But if I use the actual url to the attachment folder the image displays.
The same happens on a net new attachment
I can't find anything wrong

The path was tested and passed with the test file in the correct folder
The files table has a row for the image
The file is in the attachment directory
The file type png is in the allowed file types list
File size is set to 4MB and the new attachment is 50.2 KB but only displays a url to select.
It is set for gd currently but I tried Imagemagick also.
I have run the post,topic and forum rebuilders
I checked phpinfo and can't find anything amiss.
htaccess file is blank never had anything in it when the account was created.
In fact I have non even added a redirect for https yet
I have another site at the same host with no issues on attachments
Update it appears that friendly URL's is the culprit even though it looks like pathinfo is enabled by trying in the browser
https://example.com/index.php/testPathInfoAny suggestions on what else to check or do?????
