There IS an option to "delete this post" as opposed to "Delete this thread".
It will disappear completely if there are no replies to it. It only remains with the "deleted" message if there's a reply to it. The way threads work... that post may have been a "parent" to replies.... and thus you can't "break the chain" so to speak.
There is a little tweak at
www.threadsdev.com to give you a checkbox to avoid the "edited by" tag if you are an admin or mod. I agree... sometimes I need to fix something technical and like to avoid the "edited by" tag.
