Josh thanks a lot for your help.
It turns out it was beyond repair and I was able to create a new database and use my previous days' backup to get up and running again.
I think the data server crashed right in the middle of either a backup or an "optimize" and corrupted a few tables, rendering the whole thing a mess.
I can't stress the word BACKUP enough, folks! Saved my site!
