#1 - well the new feature is more versitile. The old way people only got replies to
their post - but many people just click reply at the end of the thread. So the new feature allows them to get replies to the whole thread, and they can get replies to threads without having to post in it themselves. Also under the old way, there was no way for the user to stop receiving those emails once they added it. So the new way, they simply remove it from their favorites.

Note if you modify anything, you can lose your ability to obtain support. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> So the usual warnings apply.
#2 - Shouldn't be related. If you upgraded and accidentally Overwrote any files in the /filters directory - then you would have lost your titles. Check the /filters/usertitles file. Make sure this is writable and edit it from the admin menu.
