I have a heavy load on my server so my server people suggested I get a second server and set up my forums Mysql database on it. After many days working on this here are their responses:

Hi Rick,
I had masood working on the MySQL as he is more knowlegeable about it than I and he is saying that its a problem with the forums scripts. This surely throws a wrench in the works. He is suggesting you contact the developers of the script and see if they have any updates or fixes so remote databases can be used.

Your forum is unable to work with a remote mysql database. You will need to check with developers of your forum software and find a fix for that. I have changed the mysql back to local server.

They previously suggested I move my forums over to vBulletin.
