I am very new to this and I have a few questions if you can please help me with.

1. Where and how do I change the color of the reply to post under a forum?

2. How do I show all the threads on the first screen people come to my forum see so even the inner threads off the forums show?

3. How do I add instant UBB code and Instant Graemlins like is done here to my forum?

4. Is there a way to make the forums move up and down as the posts become new instead of just the light going on if there is a new post?

I am currently using version 5.45.

Thank you.

Are you talking about the "Post reply" buttom? If so, that's an image - you just need to create a new image, upload it to your noncgi directory and change the image name in the CP.

UBB doesn't support showing the threads directly on the front page. Now, you COULD go with only one forum and link directly to forumdisplay.cgi and that should serve the purpose, but there are many internal links that will send the user back to Ultimate.cgi It is possible in UBB6 with a fairly small code hack to force the user to deactivate the front page, but it IS a code hack.

They're part of UBB6.

No, the order is set in the CP and can't be changed dynamically.

Thank you that does help but just to follow up what I meant is how do I change the color of the reply response not the image but the actual table. What would that be called exactly within the general settings area to change that color?

Lastly, is it difficult to upgrade and will I lose any info if I changed from UBB 5 to 6?

Also, is it worth changing I mean the way I feel if its not broke don't fix it?

Thank you.

Try fiddling with the Alternating Table Column Color settings in Style Settings.

Upgrading to UBB6 is a fairly lengthy but well-documented procedure. If the upgrade instructions are strictly followed, it doesn't take too long and all data is preserved. If you were running 5.47e, I'd say evaluate carefully, but since you're not, I would at least advise upgrading to that level.

You might also want to install a test version of 6.05, or clone your 5.x and then upgrade THAT to 6.05 to see how it runs. That will let you get a good feel for 6.x before you actually upgrade for real. (By cloning I mean create a full 2nd working copy of your 5.x board, THEN upgrade the copy to 6.x. If anything goes wrong, you delete and start over).
