Hello
Just downloaded over the weekend the latest freeware version of your bbs. I've re-installed it twice now and get the same message when I access the http://www.robozone.com/ubb/cp.html page and click on the "General Settings" selection I get a "404" page may have temporarily moved.

I tried the other links to the left on this page and none of them seem to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure you have specified the correct BASE HREF in cplinks.html?

If so, the cgi-bin directory on your server might be reserved by your host for system cgi scripts. Create a cgi-local directory and try running the scripts from there.

Ok,

I have an inquiry into them. Though it is Hispeed I don't know if you would know I see one of your support personnel has a "hispeed.com" account.

I am not sure which support personnel you are referring to. However I have found the answer to the 404 problem. Your server is setup with cgiwrap. Change the BASE HREF in cplinks.html to http://www.robozone.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/robozone/ and it should solve the problem.

Ok, I tried what you suggested now I get the following error:

CGI Wrap Error: Couldn't find script name, check your URL

The server people got back to me, they said the following: "Yes you can install your own scripts in the cgi-bin directory."

So I guess that isn't the problem.

Do I need to create a "CGIwrap" directory?

It's not working because you did not correctly type in the BASE HREF I told you. It is currently set as http://www.robozone.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/robozone

It needs to be set as http://www.robozone.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/robozone/

Notice the / at the end.

One more question: Since I have to configure my BASE HREF to the following: http://www.robozone.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/robozone/

Does that mean I have to keep this in mind when configuring the absolute paths?

Keep it in mind when setting the CGI URL beneath the absolute paths. The CGI URL is the same as the BASE HREF though without the / at the end.

Ok STILL having problems
I've went into the environmental variables and cut and pasted the exact file under "Script Name" and pasted it into the Absolute Path for your UBB CGI DIRECTORY
under General Settings and changed the Absolute Path to Directory Where Your Custom Variable Files Reside to the same thing and left everything else the same. Under URL's I changed it to http://www.robozone.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/robozone but I must be doing something wrong. Everytime I get this error: Sorry, but we couldn't find a record for the UserName you entered. Please try again.
If you are configuring your bulletin board for the first time, this is probably due to the fact that you did not set the proper variable for your CGI Directory absolute path.

Robozone, when the server uses cgiwrap, the paths get a little tricky. I have set them for you and you should be able to finish setting up the rest of your ubb now.

reginag, your problem is different than robozone's. Please start a new post for your problem.

Great,
Everything seems to be working fine now, I do have a question: If I go back into the general settings section will I Loose the paths that you defined for us? There is some "non-absolute path" stuff I'd like to change.

If this works well, I'm going to purchase the liscensed copy
Thanks

No, you will not lose the paths I set when you go back into General Settings. Anything under the absolute paths and url's can be changed.

Great!
I'm finally up and running. I really appreciate your help in this MJ. If there is someplace you'd like me to fill out some kind of customer support survey, I'll gladly take the time to do it.

Does the freeware version have all the cool icons associated or is it just the liscensed version?

Don't know of any surveys to fill out. Glad I could help. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Regarding the icons, they are only available in the licensed version.
