On upgrading to 6.6, the fonts on the forum summary page were distorted, very large in some areas. I went into control panel and played around a little. Saw that the default small font was "2" and the default regular font was also "2" I changed the small to "1"---and didn't like how that looked either, so went to change it back.
It won't let me. It remains at 1 no matter how many times I change it....Is there any way to fix this or should I order my members magnifying glasses?
Ok. Is that just going to fix the program's inability to "take" the new size or adjust the relative fonts altogether?
That is, "3" was way too big. "1" is way too small. "2" was too big, too, for the opening page, and certainly bigger than 6.5 especially on things like date of post. So there weren't any options, so it seemed, to get back to where we were.
Yes, I agree with that logic and would've said the same. Nonetheless, if you look at the forum summary page, suddenly the text with the 2 default parameter is bigger than it was in some places than pre-upgrade using the same setting; reverting to 1 makes it smaller than it was. Nothing replicates what it was. Plus other areas like the date of post are bold and larger too. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> The areas where the size seems to distort are the list of recent posts in the forum summary page; and last post dates, suddenly big and bold in the forums. The text in the threads is normal, although some items have become bolded.
Could it be you switched typefaces in part and what I'm seeing is not a size issue but a kerning or other typeface issue? Or, maybe all sections of a page are now under one default size whereas before there were a couple of choices? The good news is that most like it. I'm not so sure I do in places, though.
We did the patch--that at least got us back to "2" and functional. Thanks.
Thinking the times look different I might understand, if you happened to skip the 6.5 release, in which we added user custom time zones and changed the way some times were displayed (as far as bolding and colors go)... otherwise, there shouldn't have been any noticable changes...

I tried that. But when you do that, it affects far more than just the dates. It affects the forum title for instance, the forum description. It renders everything in tiny print.
I think that something in the upgrade attaches new fields to the definition of "small font" that didn't go with small font in the past.
