Hi,
The server of my board is set to another timezone (which I am not able to change because of reasons beyond my control). I eddited the Default Time offset to -6 because my server is six hours ahoud of my local time. I saved it, but realy nothing has changed on my board!

If I'm not mistaken, the Default offset affects what is populated in My Profile as a default for new users.

Realy?

I thought it updated everything on the forum, and then added / substracted the profile setting.

That's what I was thinking... Our server runs on GMT so I have everything setup for that anyway lol... A lot easier to configure timezone changes that way...

No, it is only the default for new users. If a user has logged in since the upgrade to 6.5 or so, then they'll have either the board default offset or their profile offset in a cookie. Adjusting the defualt offset later on will not impact users that are logged in, but will impact users that aren't.

You must be kidding. Is there anyway to override the board's time because this is very annoying for a lot of registered users. Or do I have to edit all profiles by hand to fix it for them :S ?

It's a user preference - it's up to them to get their own time zones correct.

If you upgraded your board from a 6.4 or prior, the old hard-coded time offset is preserved behind the scenes. That time offset is still used to alter the actual times stored.

When it comes time to display a time, it's written out by Javascript. The Javascript is what's actually responsible for adjusting the time according to the user preferences. If a user has Javascript turned off, they'll see the unadjusted original server-based time.

So you mean there is no actual place in code wich is responsible for requesting the server time? Which means that it is a lot of work to change the code from that?

the post holds the server time, then the offset changes it to local time

The control is hidden because altering it will cause time offset problems for existing messages. Do not attempt to globally alter your time settings.
