I'd like to see the ability to make additional registration fields required. For example, location and one of the admin-defined fields.

Yeah, but you can't make them required on the signup form..... I would like to see that too. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

I second that. Mandatory fields would be nice. As it is right now, I have to PM members to make them fill out some of the "free fields"

A freely definablle profile fields would be really create.
Making them mandatory on the registration should be an option.

Ours is a vehicle board, if people don't completely fill out their profiles we waste a lot of time trying to figure out what they have and where they are - so for example, Location should be mandatory, and my defined field "Vehicle" should be mandatory.

I've done some custom modifications for people where it will check certain profile fields when they login - and then require them to complete them. That's been really popular and pretty cool. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="images/icons/cool.gif" />

IMHO adding more required fields could reduce the number of people that join. Something to be considered anyway.

Ohh--and it would be nice if a mandatory field only would permit an answer from a pre-defined list.

With regards to the problem of reducing people that joins, this is a tradeof that only the webmaster could and should evaluate.

I agree it should be considered. But for some purposes more info is essential, e.g., if you're running a board that's intended for people who belong to a pre-exiting asociation,and you need to elicit enough info to check their membership! or if you have other criteria or info needs!

Not that it would be a long list, but one or more bits of info that you could define yourself and then require would be great!

And of course, I have to get in a plug for the other option that's sometimes needed WITH this...that - if you have to approve registrations, as you would in some cases - you get the info from all the required fields in the notification email, so that you have the info on which approval would be based!!!
