I think this would be very welcome by some newcomers to the board. If they could edit the text using buttons at the top (bold, underline, italic, colours, etc)... it would make it easier for new people to understand.

What I mean is using Javascript (of which I know nothing) to add the tags.. I know it might be harder to display it in the EDIT box as colours.. but even if they are added as tags (I believe anyone with Javascript experience would find this easy) it would make the process faster for beginners who aren't sure of the markup tags.

Yes.. very similar.. I'd like it to do it "around the selected text" too personally.

Is that an OPTION btw... i .e. profile config?

Also.. i'd like to see it in a more compact way... combo boxes with colours etc...

Did you write it?

Scream... something similar would be nice in distro

Unfortunately that isn't possible.

It is only shown if 'markup is on' but apart from that the only option is for Admins - 'if you don't want it, don't use it'. I suppose I could put in an on/off option in the editdisplay section of the Profile - that's a good idea.

If you used combo boxes you'd lose the visual reminder and it wouldn't really be 'one-click' any more.

The combo would make it more like outlook express etc... and it would take less space.... I'll look at incorporating it in a couple of weeks when my exams at uni are over..
