Solved the variables problem (I had a Variables directory and the variables files where outside cgi-bin. I erased it and uploaded all the files manually to cgi-bin.

1. Now, when attempting tu run UBB_upgrade.cgi this message appears:

SOFTWARE ERROR
Unable to create last_number.cgi file in Members directory. at /usrxx/home/xxxxx/public_html/cgi-bin/ubb_upgrade.cgi line 173.

Members directory is under /cgi-bin/Members. Is that OK?
What am I doing wrong ?

2. What about this new directory :/cgi-bin/Modules that appeared when upgrading
Is it OK? Must I chmod it?

God! Look that line 173 of ubb_upgrading.cgi!:

I think I'm death...but I didn't change the Members path. Some idea? What if I create that archive by myself?

About the Modules directory, you do NOT need to CHMOD that to anything in particular.

Go to your cgi-bin/Members folder. Is that CHMOD set to 777?

Mr Yakbak: you were right to the point. I had chmod each file but not the folder. Now the screen is correct but the script run alone and now a page appears:
"upgrade already done. Nothing to do." I was not asked for a login.
And I have no new panel control or old panel control and the things remain blank.
How can I run the script again?

Now, you should be able to upload the UBB6 CGI, variable files into the existing UBB5 CGI folder. CHMOD the vars_*.cgi files to 777, and CP_*.cgi/ubb_*.cgi files to 755. You don't need to CHMOD the Modules folder, but be sure to upload it.

Upload the contents of the NonCGI folder of the ZIP to your UBB Non-CGI directory on your webserver.

After everything is uploaded, you should be able to run cp.cgi, which is your new Control Panel, found inside your CGI-BIN folder.

Problem was I was creating double folders uploading the whole folder.
Advice for begginers: once you unzziped the files (which I do to a new Desktop Folder named UBB6), you must select the folder to upgrade, open it, select all files in it (Edit: Select all) and drag them all to the folder in the necessary directory in ftp. Otherwise you duplicate folders.
Easy, but it cost me a day of work with the kind help of Yakbak. Thanks.

Dario, FTP in and check that your vars_config.cgi file has the right absolute path to your non-cgi directory, and that your template directory is in there with ALL of the template files. They don't need to be chmoded but they have to be uploaded in ASCII.
