Well...after spending 5 hours straight trying to figure this out on my own, I have to bug you guys for help. This is the story:

My old board was UBB 5.47 I downloaded a copy of UBB 6.0 a few months ago and finally got around to trying to install it.

At first I had the "Date.pl file missing" note, but after sifting through the posts I figured out that I had to upload it again.

Then came the software issues. I saw another post that said to delete the pm and user-rating files, so I did that. At this point, the borders of the screen would load, but another software error popped up regarding "carriage returns".

So finally I downloaded version 6.04 to see if that would fix it. No luck. Every thread that I have seen that seems similar to my problem tells me it's my permissions or that it hasn't been loaded in ASCII.

Man, I've reloaded these files more times than I can count, and have set the permissions even more.

Is there any hope?

It appears you didn't upload the files in ASCII. Make SURE you are uploading them in ASCII, make sure you force whatever FTP program you are using to upload in ASCII.

AHHHHH!!

I've uploaded EVERTHING a dozen times in ASCII!!

Is there anyway to determine which file(s) are giving me problems?

What if I just download the entire site, and then upload it again in ASCII. Can I do that? <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Try that, but remember to re-upload the image files in binary after.

Your UBB URL seems to be down...

Try using a different FTP client, such as CuteFTP or FlashFXP to re-upload the files in the right mode. Some clients get stobborn on you...

this is the problem i had, not sure if it will work for you ... check to make sure your template directory is uploaded in ascii and chmod to 777.

USE CUTE and not WSFTP it is much easier!
