And yes, you are modifying the first line only.
Try this: #!/usr/local/bin/perl

My host just told me that these are the perl locations on my server:
sbin/perl
/usr/bin/perl <---- They said that most likely this is the one the UBB software is looking for.
Can you figure out the exact path from that information?
Also, I'm upgrading from version 5.47b. Does that mean that I have to upgrade to the latest 5x version and then upgrade to 6x? Curious.
Ok, I've tried everything. I followed the instructions and I get as far as the part where it tells me to check the paths of those three files, then run the ubb6_test.cgi script. This is where the problem lies. I get an "internal server error." I went back and played with the perl paths and finally put in the one you recommended. It didn't work. Everything that needs to be chmoded is chmoded. What else is there to do? Frustrated. Juan

Ok, I'm almost there. I can access ubb6_test.cgi. All tests passed. Now, I went to ubb_upgrade.cgi and it says my board is already upgraded? What's that about?
All tests pass but I get this error message when trying to access the control panel. Any ideas?

Kristi, the upgrade worked but my forum and control panel keep on having problems every now and then. A few minutes ago, I was getting an error message when I tried to access both the forum and the control panel. I just tried it again and now it works. Why do you think it is doing that?
Sounds like your server might be going up and down... You might want to check with your webhosting provider and see if they can give you information on the performance.

Great, now I can't access anything. My Forum and control panel issue error messages <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
My forum is posting this message now.:

Kristi, since the upgrade earlier, I can no longer log into my server control panel nor can I access my email account. can you post the trouble ticket url here?
What does exceeded disk quota mean? Does that mean, I'm going to have to find another host?
It means that you've exceed the space that your webhost provided for you. You'll need to contact them and ask them for more. You can tell that this is not just affecting your board, as your email is down as well.
This doesn't mean that you have to change hosts... You can simply ask your host for more space.

Kristi, I'm going to switch. This particular host doesn't support message boards well. They shut down my Yabb last week and I've had problems with my UBB there as well. It's time to switch to a host that supports UBB. Thanks for everything.
what your path to Perl is. YOu can find that (usually) on the support area of your webhosts website, or in the email they send you with all the details.
If you still can't figure it out, go ahead and download the usr/bin/perl. You can always change the path later if you need to <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Kristi, I want to thank you and everyone for all of your help. I dropped my old host and went with a new one that I know for a fact does support UBBs. I read the reviews in here and I asked them. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I reinstalled my UBB on the new server today and all went well. I am currently testing all of the features and I've yet to encounter a problem. I'm crossing my fingers. I can't believe how easy it has become to install a UBB. I once thought I could never do it. Thanks to all of you I now know a lot of the language that goes with the installation.
Thanks Kristi and UBB family. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
P.S. I'll be back if I have problems. LOL <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
