Okay, I need some help with my installation please. I'm installing version 6.03 and followed the instructions EXACTLY. hello.cgi, hello.pl, ubb6_test.cgi ALL worked fine reporting a PERL version of 5.00404 (which I believe is high enough). So I finished uploading all the other files to my server and started up cp.cgi in my browser as instructed only to get a "500 Internal Server Error". I have no idea what I have done wrong, I have checked all the perl paths for the 3 files (cp.cgi, ultimatebb.cgi, ubb_upgrade.cgi) and they are correct (/usr/bin/perl). The permissions are all set correctly as per the instruction manual (cgi files to 755 and vars to 777). The link my Control Panel is.

Thanks very much for whoever can help me out here! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, you've already checked two of the three things that mainly cause internal server errors, the permissions and path to perl. The other one is to make sure all the files were uploaded in ASCII except for the .jpg & .gif files. If you left your FTP software on auto-detect mode during the upload then I will pretty much guarantee you that your Modules directory contents were uploaded as binaries (these are the several files with the .pm extension). Check to make sure.

If this turns out not to be the problem, then please complete a support ticket as Infopop will need to look at your board installation.

Perhaps this is the same problem I have when installing upgrades.

My Unix server will NOT execute a .cgi or .pl file that has been saved in PC format (line feeds + carriage returns). It will only execute these files if they are saved in Unix format. Every time an upgrade is issued I need to open every file and re-save in the correct format, which gets very dreary when there are many files in the upgrade.

I posted this once before; might I request that Unix upgrade files be supplied in Unix format to save all that work? It isn't a matter of ftp'ing them in Ascii format, it's the way you save the files. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Dear Helice, could that be my problem? I am downloading to a PC as well. How do I go about re-saving files in UNIX format? Thanks.!!

I read on another post that if a server is running obsolete UNIX software than that could possibly cause 500 ISEs. Here is the information for my server, could someone plz tell me if these versions would cause any problems? thnks.

ALSO, using a debugging utility, it displays the following error when I test cp.cgi:

job-working-directory: could not get current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories
