I just renewed my yearly license so that I could upgrade to the latest version from my Classic BB 6.4.2...

... but I accidentally started the NEW INSTALL instructions instead of the UPGRADE instructions.

I caught myself after copying all the cgi-bin files over... <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

HELP ME!
perl.cgi runs, ubbclasic_test.cgi does not
all cgi files are 755

I never installed the variable files, or anything, so all my forums and settings should be ok...

I think the main thing I messed up was not shuttingdown my board.. can you help?

PS. the message I get when I run ubbclassic_test.cgi is:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, []webmaster@tomasello.com[/] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

so, what files DID you upload? just the contents of the cgi-bin folder, without the vars files? that's fine - those needed to be uploaded anyway... if you didn't upload anything else, you can just continue on with the upgrade, but use the upgrade manual. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

re: the failing test script: double check permissions... are they set to 755?

Okay, yes.. I finished the upgrade as per the upgrade manual.. but my board is still sick. (see error above)

okay, wait... maybe we're getting closer...
I can run cp.cgi and I get prompted for login, but it doesn't like my login info... could it maybe not know where the login info is stored?

open up your vars_config.cgi file and check out the paths. are they right? if so, go ahead and submit a support ticket, to my attention, and I'll have a look and see if i can figure it out. if the paths are wrong, repair them, and give it another shot... i don't think that's the problem, but we'll see what happens.

well, I couldn't get in with my password, but anoither admin gave me ger password and now I'm in and performing the upgrade.. seems to be working... I'll let yopu know *crosses fingers*

ok. you'll probably be able to get in once the Member Metadata has been rebuilt.
