I've been having a heck of a time trying to fix this. I keep getting the following error:

Content-type: text/html
Software error:
Unable to create files in your noncgi/styles directory. The error returned was: Permission denied at ubb_setup.cgi line 340, <STDIN> line 1.

any idea on how to fix???

Thanks.

Set your noncgi folder to 777 and try again. You do not have correct permissions on your directory.

I went through the whole install and made sure all permissions were set, still getting the error.

What version are you trying to install?

The UBB cannot lie about the error message. It is returning what the Operating System told it. The OS told it that the script did not have sufficient permissions to create a directory

You have some options:

- See what the permissions are on /noncgi/styles. If they are not 777, set it and every folder inside /noncgi to 777 and see if it errors out again.

- You could remove all files, upload the installation again verifying correct permissions before you visit cp.cgi to setup your paths.

- You could fill out a support ticket and let Infopop Support examine your installation

If the first 2 don't work, then you should definitely use the 3rd option as further troubleshooting requires FTP access to your server.

Ron-

thanks for the help, I didn't have the folders inside the noncgi folder permissions set, I just double checked and got this message:

Thank you! You have successfully installed your UBB.classic!

Thanks a lot for the help and for the super fast replies.

Well , I got the successful install message, but then when I ran the ultimatebb.cgi I got this message:

There was a compilation error while loading the UBB.classic libraries and data files:

Can't locate /ubb_lib.cgi in @INC (@INC contains: ./Modules . /home/ga2000gt/public_html/ubbcgi /home/ga2000gt/public_html/ubbcgi/Modules /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.2 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.2/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.2 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl) at /home/ga2000gt/public_html/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi line 78.

Please make sure that you uploaded the CGI and Variables files to the proper directory, permissions are set properly on the files, and that paths in the control panel are set correctly.

I checked all the permissions and I believe all my paths are correct (would install be successful if they weren't?)

Unfortunately visiting http://probed.websiteallies.com/ubbcgi/cp.cgi nets me the Initial Setup Routines. It seems like your vars_config.cgi is possibly nonexistant. You need to make sure your variables directory is also writable (CHMOD 777)

Ugh, I checked all permissions and the vars_config.cgi file is in my ubbvars directory. It looks like all my paths are correct too.

%vars_config = (
CGIPath => q!/home/ga2000gt/public_html/ubbcgi!,
NonCGIPath => q!/home/ga2000gt/public_html/ubb!,
MembersPath => q!/home/ga2000gt/public_html/ubbcgi/Members!,
VariablesPath => q!/home/ga2000gt/public_html/ubbvars!,
CGIURL => q!http://probed.websiteallies.com/ubbcgi!,
NonCGIURL => q!http://probed.websiteallies.com/ubb!,

Is that right?
