I'm having trouble with my mail system working in the UBB (requestion passwords etc.) our hosting company seems to think it might be that the outgoing emails must have a valid username (set up in our mail system) thus outgoing email usernames must be valid accounts. I'm trying to determine what the UBB will use as the outgoing email address when things are mailed to see if that's the problem.

Anyone know what the default address is? or where the setting is to set the outgoing email (FROM) line is within the control panel?

There really isn't a default address, it's whatever you supply in your control panel.

Couple things to check:
- email address must be a valid one
- be sure that it's the same in both places you put it in your control panel (registration settings / general display settings).

I guess what I'm asking is what is the default address for instance if the domain is x.com does the UBB automatically use say [][email protected][/] for the outbound emails?

What I hear you saying is that it's a setting in the control panel the problem is where is that setting? the email section for setting up the mail server etc. doesn't ask for a return address to be specified (nor is there a place to put it) that begs the questions where is the email set?

Control Panel => Registration Settings =>

"Primary Registration Contact - Valid Email Required
The email address where all registration notification messages will go. This address will also be used as the contact email for any registration questions. This email address can be the same as your primary contact email address, if you like. Note: All email having to do with registration on your board will come from this email address. Ensure this is a valid email address!"

Control Panel => General Display Settings =>

"Support Email Address (Valid Email Required)
This email address will be listed on the board, so that users may contact you. Note: All email from the board (except registration) will come from this email address. Ensure this is a valid email address!"
