i have a snitz forum right now ( http://forum.snitz.com ) and i know there is a way to convert UBB to snitz. but i was wondering if there is any way to convert snitz to UBB 6?
i would really like to use UBB as the message board on my website, but i dont want to lose the current members and their posts. so i was just wondering.
thanks

my question :-
why did you move away from snitz to ubb if you were already up and running there?

why i am asking:-
at this point in time->on ubb6.3.0.1 , win2000 server, sql server 2000

over at my work . .the ubb serves as a secondary section of the site, with users having to login to view articles on the main ASP site, the current problem is that users have to register themselves again with the ubb software to use the forum . .even though the previous registration with the main ASP site has already stored a username and password pair in the sql server 2000 database. .(if only there was a way to get ubbv6301 to work with Microsoft Sql Server 2000)

due to the pressing need to integrate everything to a single login for one of the sites that i work on (which would help the user friendliness of the site), i have been asked to evaluate a number of alternate forums/messageboard softwares with snitz being one of them.

snitz and others were selected by TPTB for evaluation because their features' list claim to be able to work with sql server 2000 (which would be helpful in our case where the usernames and login passwords are stored in one of the tables)

and another feature is full moderation. . .

for me one of the things i am concerned about is that their user interface/interaction should resemble ubb as much as possible .

i have only just started looking and checking on the other alternatives after overcoming ubb inertia (would have liked to work more with perl;) and the ubb people (both infopop and ubbdev) have been great:) ). . anyway . .

back to my question:-
why did you move away from snitz to ubb if you were already up and running there?

Infopop currently does not have a snitz -> UBB transfer program, unfortunately.

the original post is ~1 year old, I don't think he'll answer. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

If you are considering a db-backended solution, threads works well and is/has been integrated into other software for integrated login functionality. If you need the ubb.classic "look", it has been done and is available at threadsdev in the template forum <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi, thanks for the replies <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
. .just need something to make the ubb work like like this:-
(1)when user links to the ubb ultimatebb.cgi page check which site the user came from
(2)if the user came from the main ASP site, check for username and password that would be encoded in the link information that is clicked coming from that site (is that possible?)
(3)checks the sql server 2000 table of the ASP site to authenticate
(4)if correct then checks the flat file system to see if the member (using login name) is already there
(5)if not, automatically create a new member file
within the flat file system and continue as usual. .(automatic registration)
(6)if already there, take it that the user has already logged in (automatic login) and continue as usual . .

could the above be done without having to move the whole forum away from ubb.classic?

thanks again <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

hmmm... you are asking for something I am relatively certain hasn't been done before - not that it couldn't be done. Just hasn't.

I know of one guy who would be able to do something like that, I'll point him this way and see if he has time to do it <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

cal has quite a few more posts than 2, must have gotten lost in the shuffle to the new forum. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> If anyone can do it, he can...

Hi everybody, I'm new here.
As a matter of fact even I used to have a snitz forum but now I need to get all the old posts to this new UBB. Is there a way I can do this?
Please let me know! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
thanks everyone for your attention.

UBB.classic 6.7 introducted the Import facility. I haven't seen any YAML files for snitz, but you can read about the import facility at https://www.ubbdev.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/8/3682.html

That gives you a "brief" overview of the Importer. That would allow you to create your own YAML file to import from snitz.
