We recently changed from a UNIX server to a WINNT/32 server, and discovered some problems. We have updated to UBB 6.05, and this solved our problems. We of course had to update our graphics, and other forum settings.

But then again today, I went to one of our forums and got an FYI message:

Error: couldn't open D:/216.247.123.4/protected/ubb/Forum1/000013.cgi : Permission denied

Also in our administrative section of our UBB, when I go to rebuild or update in the maintenance section, I get errors like:

Software error:
Can't locate D:/216.247.123.4/protected/cgi-bin/cp_index.cgi in @INC (@INC contains: D:216.247.123.4protectedcgi-bin C:/Perl/lib C:/Perl/site/lib .) at D:216.247.123.4protectedcgi-bincp.cgi line 506.

It just seems like things are more unstable on the new WINNT/32 server vs. the UNIX server we used to use.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Regards,
Todd Smith

Permissions, permissions, permissions!

You have majorly incorrect permissions on your UBB noncgi directory, and are missing files from your UBB cgi directory.

As this is an installation issue (moves are installs), and the UBB6 PIT forum is ONLY for post-installation issues, this thread is being moved to the UBB6 Win32 Installation forum.

Recheck the Owner's Manual appendix on permissions and be sure you have all of the directories set properly. The manual is available buy clicking here

If you are not sure all files have been uploaded, reload the entire set from the zip file except those that start with vars_ (they are your configuration settings). Do upload those that start with vars_wordlets All of the vars_wordlets go into the cgi directory. Verify that the Modules directory and all contents are in the cgi directory and that the Templates directory and all contents are in the nonCGI directory.

Post the exact URL to your ultimatebb.cgi if it is accessible from the web. Upload the ubb6_test.cgi file your cgi directory and run it from your browser to help check permissions and the locations of critical files.
