ubb version 6.1.0.2 installed on a win2k server iis 5.0 on a secured intranet.

hi,
we recently changed our servers from linux to win2k server in order to prepare for the .net platform to be released soon. i moved the bulletin board from the linux to the windows based server and everything functions as its supposed to with the exception of the initial page loading. when the board first loads, about half the time everything appears as its supposed to. the other half of the time, there will be odd colors, indentions/margins are way off, and sometimes you can even see html code mixed in with everything else. clicking refresh usually corrects the problem and refreshing twice will fix it if the first one didnt.
this isnt a great big problem because everything is functional, but it makes me (as the webmistress) look unprofessional. any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks!
anna

Which variety of Win2k is in use? The UBB runs best on Professional and Server.

Also ensure you're using the Perl EXE, not the ISAPI DLL, which is unstable.

hi, and thanks for the reply!

im using win 2k server on a single processor server running an axp1700 processor and 256 megs of ram. since less than 100 people use the message board, ive probably got 500x more hardware resources than is required on a simple ubb dedicated web server. i am using perl.exe %s %s on my settings.
thanks,
anna

OKay... now, as we can't view the board from behind the firewall, can you use Netscape 4 (not IE) to save the HTML source of a corrupted page and put it up somewhere public? If you use IE, it will mangle the HTML - I need the original. (Netscape 6 is not guaranteed to produce the original either.)

due to the nature of the network i cannot post anything from that board in a public forum. that said, i was able to recreate the same issue at home. here are a few screen captures.

this happens about half the time, and clicking refresh corrects the issue.

Did you use Netscape 6 or another Gecko-powered browser?

Absolutely, totally bizarre.

The next time it happens, can you view source and save? I REALLY need to examine the HTML to try and figure out how that could happen...
