I am running UBB 6.2.1 on a dedicated Windows 2000 server with the php accelerator.

I occasionally get errors like:

An error has occured:

Undefined subroutine &main::PageTop called at D:/xxxxxxxxxx/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb_search.cgi line 439.

Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you!

I was trying to do a search of my UBB forums when this happened. I hit my browsers back button and hit search again and it worked.

The same thing occasionally (once every two weeks or so) happens when trying to post a reply.

Once such error was:

comments: An error has occured:

D:/xxxxxxxx/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb_new_reply.cgi: Missing right curly or square bracket at D:/xxxxxxxx/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb_new_reply.cgi line 587, at end of line
syntax error at D:/xxxxxxxx/cgi-bin/ubb/ubb_new_reply.cgi line 587, at EOF

Please inform the board administration of this error so that they may fix the problem. Thank you!

Again, if I hit the back button and try to post the message again, it works.

Any ideas?

Are you using the ISAPI DLL version of Perl by chance?

yes, I think so. I am using the version that comes with the latest version of Active State Perl (5.6.1) and I do have cgi mapped to the PerlIS.dll instead of perl.exe.

Is that bad?

I thought the server was supposed to use less resources doing it this way...

Unfortunately, it does use less resources but seems to be way less reliable when it comes to the UBB. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Give the EXE a shot and let us know if that helps.
