Not sure what is going on here...I have the correct path to sendmail. After signing up it says the password has been mailed, but no mail is sent. No mail gets sent if you go to the forgot password link either. Anyone have any ideas?

It is difficult, if not completely impossible to properly diagnose most UBB problems without knowing which version of the UBB you are using, as well as the FULL URL to your ultimatebb.cgi file, (NOT a link to your webpage). Well I had to turn off email verification and just made it regular because I don't want to lose any users. I'm using 6.01, any ideas? I'm thinking of testing sendmail on my system to see if it works, but I don't know how to send mail thru my shell using sendmail.

Here's something for thought as well...

I'm currently running the beta 8.4 of version 6.0, and I love the program on a whole. Sending e-mail confirmations was one of my favorite features, but like you, there was a problem getting it to work. I could, however, register for my own board, and it would send me an e-mail response like it was supposed to. Couldn't quite figure that one out.

Anyway... to the point.

My personal ISP is MSN. I'm hosted on addr.com. I've just been told that when I send mail using addr.com while connected at the same time to MSN, my mail will NOT go out. It's a spam prevention tool that MSN has recently implemented. (While connected to MSN, a user can supposedly send bulk e-mail thru their connection w/o them knowing it. If you're forced to use their SMTP on your e-mail, then they can track you down... if you're a spammer)

The bottom line... I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem on my user registrations or not, but I will soon find out. I've only been informed of the problem as of yesterday! If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I think thats mail forwarding or something...my webhost doesn't allow it (a lot of free hosts do funnily enough), I would have thought most do.
Its to prevent setting up spam lists and stuff.

Just FYI - even if your dialup ISP prevents you from connecting to other mail servers to send mail, it will *NOT* impact your UBB.

Well I disabled the email verification so there is really no point in giving the URL to my board...I'm just looking for answers why sendmail won't work. I've emailed my webhost about the problem I'm hoping they can help.

Ok I talked to my admin and he said they don't run sendmail. He said there is however Qmail ESMTP and I have to connect to localhost port 25 rather than using sendmail. How can I accomplish this?

Go to your email control panel, select SMTP as the mail sending method, then type your domain name into the SMTP Server textarea...
