Quick question. I know that this is not supported as per your downloads section.. However I just wanted to get clarification on something.
If I use the rebuildmems_61 will it obliterate all corrupted member files? And if so, will that in turn cause users who had corrupted member files, to have to re-register? I'm just curious as I found that we have 30 odd files that are corrupt including my own account.. any insight would help..
It's possible to redo their profiles manually, but a pain in the keister..., then you'll have to make sure their email is listed correctly in the email.cgi file and the member profile listed correctly in the memberlist.cgi file. Yes, a hassle, and should only be done for your most favorite people in the whole wide world <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Still, may screw up the rest of your members profiles if you don't do it exact, so it's not recommended...
For some reason now after most of the corruption was removed I can now not get in to certain threads because a corrupt member number of 000005 was posting in the thread. How do I clean that out so I can at least prune those threads or moderate them???
I continue to get corruption ARGHH here is the current screen print:
Out of 144 members found, 141 were clean profiles. -1 profiles were placed in the Member Moderation Queue. 2 profiles were marked as invalid and have been moved into the noncgi/cache/temp/junk_profiles directory on your server. You should look at these files now.
Once you have examined the invalid profiles, please enter an administrator username and password to complete the rebuild:
What does it mean -1 profiles were placed in the Member Moderation Queue? And where is that queue? What folder?
The moderation queue is an optional feature that allows you to accept or decline new registrations. Check out the registration settings area of your control panel.
Have you examined those member files? Do you see anything immediately wrong with them (i.e. they're totally blank?)

How does corruption occur in UBB? I work also for a company as a senior software analyst and we deal with corruption as well as our software uses Pervasive SQL and is a database application (we are a CRM).
I went in and re-registered everyone who had corrupted member files and now I just need to be able to somehow remove the member profile corrupt on member 0000005.cgi as it seems to come up more.. and I don't know why my new member profile of 00000164 is already corrupt???
Have you actually completed the rebuildmems script? If you have not done so, please re-run it now and let it do its thing...
Corruption like this is extremely uncommon, and if I knew what caused it, perhaps I could figure out a way to prevent it. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> This is why rebuildmems_61 exists. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Splitfyre, that won't be nessecary unless it continues (in which case, you should open a support ticket)
Kydd: The standalone script removes corrupt profiles rather than ignoring them like the built in one. The standalone also rebuilds the moderation queue, which isn't done by the integrated...

Submitted a support ticket as I am puzzled as to why the corruption is occuring, plus I need to be able to figure out how to make it so that all threads that had corrupted members posting in them are accessible. The reason being is that now on older threads with the infected members postings inside, it gives me member errors.. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I just found out that for some reason my profile that I just registered went and corrupted itself along with one of our other members! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> This is definitely frustrating.
They are 1k. I haven't had a problem posting with my corrupted profile as mine is member number 164. I just continually have problems reading old threads that had corrupted member files. My original member number was 000001.
You have a hack for "Who's Online" installed, we do not support hacked boards. I will be closing your ticket at this time. To stabalize your board and your Members Files I recommend removing that hack immediatley.
Thank you.

Sorry you feel that way - anytime a hack is installed which changes core functionality of the product we really can't predict, nor support, how the software will react.
Clearly in this case the hack is corrupting files. If you delete the 0-byte files (which I did) then you will need to have users re-register in order for them to post again.
As for unlocking to read and post - I don't have any way to make that call - I would sling stock scripts up there and determine if that allows you to read and post to them again, first, before I made any decisions about what software to use.

If you had posted the URL to your board here, we could have found that you had hacks when you first posted the topic - that would have saved days of fruitless troubleshooting. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Please, go back to a stock UBB. If you still experience problems, then we'll know for a fact that something is wrong. If the problems no longer occur without the hacks, then it will be safe to say that the hacks are at fault.
