Hi all:

Started receiving the following error out of the blue yesterday. Here are some details...

1. UNIX
2. Ver 6.5
3. Accelerator ON
4. http://forum.signingshotline.com/cgi-bin/UBB/ultimatebb.cgi

Version: 6.5.0 (February 21, 2003, rv1.102.2.3)
Online since: July 30, 2003
Members: 825
Forums: 25
Pageviews (08/2004): 107693
Cache hit percentage: 48.57%

Here is the error...

Accelerator Error:
I can't seem to open the new PNTF file (
/home/sites/forum.signingshotline.com/web/noncgi/cache-TMG2GHJV/pntf/now-accel.cgi
). Perhaps the path is incorrect?

Turning the accelerator off "solves" the error message, but what is the problem????

BTW, the now-accel.cgi file was missing from my directory so I thought I would add it. That made it worse. At first the error only came up on new posts. After I added the file I couldn't get into the board at all!

Thanks all

The file should be there and chmodded 777, if not try clearing your cache from the cp.

Also try deleting the entire pntf directory, then recreating it with 777 permissions.

First thing I did was clear the cache and a full maintenace.

I will contact my host to make sure it has 777 permissions.

The question is, why would this happen out of no where?

Just want to make sure I understand this...

You are saying to delete everyting INSIDE the ptnf folder

OR

delete the the ptnf folder AND everything in it?

^^ That.

Clearing the cache via the control panel does not touch the pntf directory.

I deleted the ptnf folder and everything in it. All permissions are RWX. It was fine for a day then:

Accelerator Error:
I can't seem to create the new counter file (
/home/sites/forum.signingshotline.com/web/noncgi/cache-TMG2GHJV/ubb_files/counter/2004-09-cache.cgi
)
Check that its parent directory exists. Perhaps the path is incorrect?

It seems the UBB did not "build" 2004-09-cache.cgi. It is not in the counter folder. And yes, counter folder is set to RWX as are all files in it. And this is similar to what happened before when now-accel.cgi was never built causing the earlier error message.

This all start happening out of nowhere. The accelerator was working fine for 1.5 years, never a hitch. Then this started.

What next???

Has your web hosting provider recently updated their version of PHP?

Try creating a blank file with that name on your computer, then uploading the file to the ubb_files/counter directory. Set permissions on it to 777.

Called my host. Nope, no changes to PHP since March 2003.

Just looked in my directory and 2004-09-cache.cgi
is now there! I didn't add it manually. I will turn on the accelorator again and see how it goes.

Keeping my fingers crossed. So far so good for over a week. I want to see what happens when the new month hits and new files need to be written in cache directory.

Thanks for following up! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

OKay, that's good to hear. Hopefully the new month won't bring any problems...
